Creating Success through Coaching

All member associations and affiliate clubs accept their responsibility for mentoring community and school coaches in their catchment area. This is achieved through the following vehicles:

  1. Coach Seminars: these are a series of coaching clinics designed to invite all club coaches to a series of progressive coaching seminars that review different aspects of coaching youth teams;
  2. Coaching Camps: each university head coach that becomes a member of the NMVA network is committed to providing the community at large with a Coaching Camp that will allow all school and club coaches the opportunity to participate.
  3. Web tools: with the use of each club’s web site, coaches will have access to a variety of resources such as written resources and on-line videos that will be produced by each head coach. These videos will be produced during coaching seminars and camps and be provided to all coaches on the member’s web site.

Coaches - Indoor Leagues

Often potential coaches are discouraged from coaching because of the time commitment and level of knowledge required to coach a team. NMVA mini volleyball and recrational indoor leagues provide individuals with an excellent opportunity to enter the pathway as a new coach, with little or no knowledge of the sport. Progress is designed to allow a coach the opportunity to grow within one of the NMVA national programs. Many of these coaches go on to train teams at their school and elite club level.

Camp Instructors

The development of a sport requires numerous camp programs. These may include development camps for young athletes; weekly fall and winter camps; and day camps during school breaks: summer, Christmas, Easter and spring break. The development of young coaches often begins here where the commitment is not as substantial and the mentoring by more experienced coaches is easier to manage. Delivery of coach education programs is a primary concern of each member association and affiliate program within the NMVA.

Coach Resources

Our programs would not be possible without the tremendous support of our many coaches, assistant coaches, and instructors.

Our coaches are all responsible for contributing to the overall success of our programs and their work is greatly appreciated. If you would be interested in learning more about an opportunity to coach for a recreational team or with a NMVA elite team please contact us at info@minorvolleyball.com

NMVA Coaching Opportunities

Indoor League Coaches: For many recreational teams a parent volunteer coach is the difference between having an opportunity to participate and not paticipate. We are always interested in hearing from parents that would enjoy the opportunity to work with one of our indoor league teams or the opportunity to assist parent coaches with the training of their indoor teams. Teams practice once per week and play on Sunday afternoons. The season runs from October - December; January - March; April - June. Volunteer positions - however child plays at half the cost.

Camp Instructors: Along with summer camps, NMVA offers a series of Skills Camps that include: Mini-volleyball camps in the fall; Volleyball skills camps in the fall and winter; On the Road Camps; Team Camps for schools; Christmas Camps; Spring Break Camps; Easter Camps and Positional Camps. We are always interested in hearing from coaches that would enjoy learning our training progressions and apply those as NMVA Instructors at one of our camps.  Honorariums provided.
