It is a two-day event with athletes registering for a half-day session in which 50 or more university and college recruiters attend and get to meet with young aspiring female athletes and their parents. The cost of participation is only $90 and the camp is targeted to athletes 16U - 18U. What is Volleyball Prospects? Volleyball Prospects is an initiative of the people at the Volleydome in Calgary. This is also the home of the very successful "Canucks Volleyball Club." The goal of the Volleyball Prospects program is to allow young female athletes the opportunity to try out for a selects team that attends a tournament in Reno, Nevada in late spring. Naturally, the goal of participating athletes is the opportunity of getting scouted by U.S. College recruiters while at the event. The feedback we have heard from parents/athletes (mostly parents) has been mixed. The program also conflicts with our Manitoba Provincial Team Program and athletes need to be aware of that as they may not be permitted to do both. Still if cost is not a factor and you are looking for another opportunity for your daughter to be seen by college recruiters this is an option. See "Volleyball Prospects" and remember to let us know what you thought of the experience by e-mailing us at info@wmva.ca . It will help us inform others.
