Highlights of the Game of Volley 4's:

• Volley 4’s is played using teams of 4 players per side.  Teams can have up to 6 players registered.  This is to ensure participation during league play.
• Court size is reduced to 7x14m for 14U & 16U.  The standard court is 9X18m.  Net heights and width are adjusted accordingly to age and gender.
• Same rules apply as regular volleyball, with just a few modifications.
• A regular volleyball is used as a game ball (supplied by league).
• There isn't a "back-row player attack fault" in Volley 4’s.  All players play all positions all the time.
• All participants are to play, rotating in and out during the game, usually after a service rotation.
• Position specialization is helpful but overall skills are needed to win games.
• Games can be played with 4 vs 3, (if a team is short of a player), a rotation fault penalty prevails when it’s time for the missing or injured player to serve.

Other General Information:

• Ideally, teams are able to have some practice time (once during the week). These are to be provided by the Minor Volleyball Association (if available). Otherwise, they participate in a group training sessions for all teams prior to the Sunday scheduled matches.
• Each team is to have a team manager (a parent) who will attend the Sunday practices as an adult chaperone. The team manager may also participate in the practice as an assistant instructor. The head instructor is provided by the Minor Volleyball Association.
• Each team will be provided with a Volley 4's Drill Manual. Common volleyball drills are outlined and have been modified for small team practices. The drills will also be explained and demonstrated during the league practices. This is done so that teams can run their own practices if they choose to.
• Each team may borrow a set of "take-home" practice balls. A $10.00 deposit is required for each ball, refundable upon return at the end of the spring league season.

Registration information:

• Registration is separate for each league season. Athletes can register online or by mail. See your local association site pages for details.

Register as a  team: Register with your friends and create a team. Each team requires from 4 to 6 players and a team manager. The manager (parent) can facilitate & coordinate the practice schedule (if gym time is available) and coordinate the pick up of volleyballs and league t-shirts.  Please consider that every team can have up to 6 players, to ensure the team participation in the league and that games go as scheduled.

Register as an Individual:  Register on-line through the online system or by mail and you will be placed on a team depending on breakdown of registrations. All players will attend a general practice at the beginning of the season to ensure that athletes and teams are placed in the appropriate tier. Dates will be determined once the need for this is assessed and athletes are contacted by e-mail.

Minor Volleyball Responsibility:

• To coordinate the league with a tournament style draw, possibly tiering teams and provide a facility for teams to play volleyball in a fun competitive league.
•  To provide practice volleyballs for various teams (if need be).
•  To educate the participants in the rules of the sport and 4's game, as well as support general sportsmanship.

The Responsibility of Participating Athletes & Parents:

• All matches are self-officiated. Although an onsight convenor is available, all matches are played without referees and athletes are expected to respect the sport by officiating their own matches. Disputes can be addressed with the convenor.
