Our programs would not be possible without the generous volunteer support of parents and other volunteers. Many volunteers make a significant contribution to the overall success of our youth programs with as little as 3-4 hours per month. If you find a volunteer position listed below that you would enjoy undertaking we would love to hear from you.
Note that not all NMVA positions listed below are volunteer positions. Some may include an honorarium and such positions will be clearly indicated. Anyone interested in one of the many opportunities listed below should contact us at info@minorvolleyball.com
NMVA Area Convenors:
Convenors: The regional convenor is the cornerstone of the NMVA grass-roots athlete development program. In fact, many of our elite club volleyball athletes that have gone on to play for a University or College team can trace their volleyball roots back to an indoor league team and/or a mini-volleyball team.
If volleyball is going to continue and grow we must secure the volunteer support of more regional convenors. In brief, NMVA convenors oversee the promotion of the sport in their area and manage their area program by helping to find coaches and permits. Therefore, their mandate includes: finding coaches, securing equipment, merchandise and permits.
We would love to hear from any parent that is interested in becoming a regional convenor for the sport in their area. Volleyball convenors are permitted to register one child at no cost.
Team Managers - Club Teams:NMVA Volunteer Opportunities:
Newsletter Writer/Editor: NMVA e-mails weekly announcements as well as posts regular updates of events and activities on the web site. Anyone with stories, news articles worth posting should take the time to forward it to us.
Photographers: To continue posting original content on our web site we need the continued support of our athletes and their parents. Anyone interested in taking photographs at our events for us to post on the web site should consider becoming a formal photographer for the NMVA. That being said, everyone is encouraged to forward photographs to us. Who knows, you might just find your pictures featured on our web site.
Scouting School Tournaments for Potential Coaches: Most of our coaches have been recruited from their school teams at a school tournament. Naturally, most were approached by an NMVA coach or an interested parent. Approaching coaches also allows our volunteers to provide them with materials that can be circulated among their athletes and parents. Simply put, many young athletes are not aware of any opportunity to play the sport outside of school and this is an excellent way to "get the word out".
Team Managers: Without the generous involvement of our team managers our club volleyball program could not function. Team managers oversee their team's finances, merchandise order, travel arrangements and fund-raising. Club Volleyball teams operate from December - May and the quality of a team's manager is just as important as the quality of a team's coach in determining the overall success of the season. NMVA team managers receive a travel subsidy to offset the cost of travel to away trips. On these away trips the team manager acts as "team chaperon" and supervises the athletes while at the hotel.
