Winnipeg Minor Volleyball Beach/Club/League

General Information:

The WMVA will be announcing the new Beach league shortly.

The WMVA Youth Outdoor League will commence Thursday, June 21 and all games will be played at the Cavalier Hotel, 1650 Regent Avenue West. There are 3 age divisions for girls: 14 & Under 3’s, 15 & Under 2’s, and 16-17 & Under 2’s.

Additional Information:

Teams play once a week and may practice on off nights/week-ends.

Court size is 8 meters by 8 meters.

Fair play rules – all players follow their rotation – if spares are available (applies to 14 & Under 4’s only). Matches are best of 3 (two sets to 21 – third to 15).

Scoring is best of 3 with first two games to 21 and the third to 15.

League ends in August with all teams competing in a year-end tournament.

Venue:

The venue has been moved to: Cavalier Hotel, 1650 Regent Avenue West.
IMPORTANT: The hotel will offer food specials to parents and athletes.

Fees:

The fee for all participants is $45/per athlete per team.
Anyone planning to participate in MVA Youth Beach Tournaments is required to become a Manitoba Outdoor Volleyball (MOV) member. This is a one-time $15 membership fee. Registration is on the MVA web site at www.manitobavolleyball.com.

Rain-Out Games:

If it is raining throughout the day... Please DO NOT call the WMVA office line until at least 4:00 pm that day. If you wish to check to see if a game has been called due to rain please call the WMVA office at 269-777 after 4:00pm.

Rain Week:

Rain week is reserved strictly for the re-scheduling of matches cancelled by the Summer Series Staff on account of rain or other reasons.

Forfeiture Procedure:

All games shall start on time as scheduled.
A team that fails to be ready to play 5 minutes after the scheduled game time (6:05pm, 7:05pm, 8:05pm or 9:05pm) will be penalized by loss of the first set by forfeit.
A further 15 minutes will be allowed before forfeiture of the second set (loss of match for best of 3) and an additional 15 minutes will be allowed before forfeiture of the third set (loss of match for best of 5).
There will be NO GAME CANCELLATIONS ALLOWED.

Youth Beach Provincials

Please note that Youth Provincials has been switched to Saturday, August 4, 2007. Teams participating in this event must have competed in at least one of the previous 2007 MVA youth tournaments (including High School Provincials). The cost is $50/team. The top U16 team will be invited to represent Manitoba in the U16 Western Elites in Sylvain Lake, AB in mid-August. Also, the top teams from Provincials will receive some funding towards attending Nationals in Ash Bridges, ON at the end of August. Annual "Life's a Beach" Tournament

Our 3rd Annual "Life's a Beach" Tournament will be held Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the Cavalier Hotel, 1650 Regent Ave (corner of Panet). There will be two age categories: U14 & U16. This is a girls only event. Please also remember that we are somewhat flexible with teams. Some 17 & under teams may also participate and U15s that are not comfortable playing against older girls may be permitted to play with the U14s. Prizes awarded. Great atmosphere with music and quality courts. REGISTER TODAY!!!
