Manitoba's ONLY Youth Volleyball Leagues
The WMVA Youth Indoor League is a fun, recreational program where players are organized on teams based on the area of the city they live in and their general skill set. All games are held on Sunday afternoons so as not to conflict with school sports.
The program is split into three seasons. The Fall, Winter and Spring sessions. These consist of one week-night practice in your area and league matches on Sunday afternoons. Every season runs for 10 weeks and ends with an organized tournament with awards.
Venue: To be Confirmed. Will be in the St. Vital area.
Day/Time: Games are held on Sunday afternoons with younger teams playing first. These start at 12:30pm Sunday afternoons.
September Series (Evaluation Process)
The September Series are free camps meant for athletes looking to participate in one of our indoor leagues. At this camp, athletes will have the opportunity to play volleyball games, get extra repetitions, receive feedback from coaches and learn some new skills/technique!
During these camps, coaches will be evaluating players to determine if they would be a good fit for their team for the upcoming season.
Winnipeg Minor Volleyball Association is flexible with age, but places athletes in tiers according to their ability. This allows athletes to improve their development and to experience optimal levels of play with other athletes of similar skill levels.
It is important for new athletes to participate in the process if they wish to find a team. Athletes that cannot be placed are provided a refund.
If you are a returning player...
When completing a registration form for the September Series or Girls Youth Indoor League, write the name of your coach/team in the "Comments" section of the registration form. If your coach is NOT returning next season, you will need to attend the September Series.
Returning players are also encouraged to attend in order to get some extra repetitions and have some fun before the start of the season.
Teams practice once per week, the time and venue are the coaches' decision. During the September Series, coaches will approach athletes they are interested in and their parents to see if their practice location and evening will work for the family. Parents should be prepared to drive outside of their area if no team in your daughter's tier is available.
The Youth Indoor Leagues are fair-play environments. However, please remember that coaches do have the right to restrict the playing time of athletes that regularly miss practices or otherwise do not understand their assignments on the court. Furthermore, parents must also understand that not all athletes play the same position and may therefore not play equally with athletes playing other positions.
If you are registering more than one child you are entitled to a 25% discount on the additional children. You can do so by mailing in your registration or by paying online and using the code: "FamilyDiscount".
The WMVA Youth League uses participating "Regional Clubs":
The WMVA is a volunteer-driven non-profit where it pays to be a league coach. Children of WMVA Youth League coaches can participate in our Fall, Winter and Summer Camps at no cost. It's our way of saying "Thank you!" for taking the time to give back to the sport. Participation in recreational leagues would not be possible without the involvement of volunteer-parent coaches. Thank you!
